Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University Plans to Launch a Nanosatellite

Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University announced plans to launch a nanosatellite into orbit soon. According to a university press release, "we plan to launch the 16U CubeSat nanosatellite No. 6 into orbit at the end of this December. The launch will be carried out from the Vostochny spaceport in Russia." Sergey Fovvenko, a researcher at the Department of Applied Physics and Space Technology, stated that the satellite is equipped with a new reception system characterized by low power consumption, enabling it to operate around the clock. It also features experimental communication equipment that will be used in future satellites, improving the satellite's data processing capabilities and reducing the amount of data it will send to ground stations. He added that the innovative design of this satellite helped increase the capacity of its batteries and the area of its solar panels, which power it, thereby extending its operational lifespan in orbit. The satellite will measure levels of electromagnetic radiation in space in various frequency bands.
